Welcome to the Seventh International CAA Conference to be held at Loughborough University. This year’s conference programme promises to be the best yet.
This Book of Proceeding sees thirty two papers covering a large range of topics, each of which has been double blind refereed. Our thanks go to the programme reviewers for their time and effort in supporting this conference.
Since the first CAA Conference we have seen an increase in both quantity and quality of accepted papers, while the range of topics has widened considerably.
The number and variety of speakers is again impressive this year. Of particular interest are the contributions from international speakers providing the opportunity to see and hear something of academic life in countries other than the UK. I find it fascinating that there is such a world-wide spread of interest in CAA.
Once again the conference attracts commercial sponsorship. As well as presence at the event through trade stands, we include a commercial presentation session in the programme of events.
A conference is nothing without its delegates. From the first conference to date our delegates have increased in number and have come from across the world. Some delegates are here every year while others are newcomers. If delegates are like me, they will leave the conference enthused, encouraged, and replete with fresh ideas, different perspectives and new contacts. I do hope that delegates can act as a conduit between their institutions and the opportunities this book of proceedings offers; they should champion the benefits that CAA can offer to their organisation and their colleagues therein.
May I take this opportunity to wish you a successful, beneficial and, as ever enjoyable conference.
It has been a pleasure and honour to have been invited to write this foreword.
